This breathtaking island at the foot of Italy has unspoiled beauty with the mountains coming down to the sea to create panoramic views quite unmatched in the rest of Italy.
Here, in the quiet mountains or by the magnificent black sandy beaches you will find properties to gratify every desire.
Taormina was described by the poet Goethe as a "patch of paradise on earth" and he was not exaggerating. Our properties are mainly located around this area; this is one of the most beautiful spots in the Mediterranean but it is also a good investment for a guaranteed renting return during the summer season.
We also have properties in the Aeolian Islands. These are 7 volcanic islands each with its own character, history and beauty. It is probably the only place in Europe where you can still find communities living without electricity, cars, stress, TV and media.
We could write about Sicily for pages and pages. In the last few years especially, the attention on Sicily as a tourist destination has been very high and almost every week an article appears in a UK newspaper.
We think it is good for our potential clients to read about Sicily from other sources rather than just from ourselves, so we have listed the articles, or where possible, extracted them for you.
Even if there are few books on Sicily we found them not updated especially on travel info; it is much better to read the following articles to have an updated idea of Sicily.
Sicily is at the centre of the Mediterranean sea, few miles from north Africa coasts.
Temperatures can rise up to 43 degrees in summer, usually between 30 and 40. the touristy season is concentrated in July, August and September, but more people are discovering the mild spring and winter in Sicily.
The coldest month is usually January, with temperature along the coast of not less than 7 degrees.
On the mountains it snow from November to late February and in mount Etna skiing is possible for a short period in
winter. Thunderstorms are common but do not last for more than few hours.
We advise you to visit Sicily in June July and/or in September/October, when the mild but still hot climate and a less crowded population of tourists makes the perfect holiday.
Il Pěcciolo Golf Club
Il Pěcciolo Golf Club is an 18-hole par 72 golf course on the slopes of the volcano, Etna. It is the first golf course constructed in Sicily and is designed by Luigi Rota Caremoli. The beautiful 18 holes are situated amongst oaks, hazels and vineyards and are surrounded by fields of lava from the different eruptions.
The smoking summit of Etna (3342 mt) dominates every hole and is the great attraction of the course. The rustic clubhouse used to be the farmhouse of a Sicilian family and has been renovated into a comfortable and spacious location, which offers a range of facilities, under which the pleasant 'Foresteria' with 16 nice rooms. Il Picciolo Golf Club is 40 minutes from Taormina and 50 minutes from Catania
Le Madonie Golf Club
Overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea on one side and the national reserve of the Madonie Hills on the other Le Madonie Golf Club is a top class 18 hole, par 72 golf course. Situated in Campofelice di Rocella the club is only ten minutes drive from the historic coastal town Cefalů and less than one hour from the center of Palermo.
The course is designed around more than five thousand indigenous olive and orange trees, along with many other different fruit trees, oleanders and nut trees. From most holes and the driving range you can see the volcanic tops of the Aeolian Islands in the distance.
Sicilian food like the history of the island contains all the ingredients of the Mediterranean area.. I don’t believe the island’s kitchens have ever been poor on flavour, colours and strong tastes.
Invasions, from the Arabs to the Normans, have left something in the island’s cooking habits and now Sicily can count on a variety of recipes no second to anyone’s in the Mediterranean. From Couscous to polenta, a typical plate from north of Italy, in Sicily it is
possible to taste everything, and everything has its own character developed and evolved through the generations .
Off course you can have couscous in north Africa, but certain recipes are typical and unique to Sicily; we will try to tell you what not to miss, and whether possible where we had the best of that plate.
This is a very limited list which we aim to update as often as we can while our girth grows happily.
